Booking Information

Canadiana Musical Theatre Company develops original shows for schools that require upwards of two to three years development. Thus, the fees for performances reflect the costs involved in producing original Canadian-based musical theatre: sets, costumes, props, instruments, scripts, publicity, rehearsals, vehicles...all that goes into making a tour happen. We do not rely on outside grants.

If we were presenting our show in a theatre, people would consider it a great bargain at $5.00 per student. The reality is, however, that it often works out to $2.50 per student or less when we come to your school!

Fees range from $475 in the lower mainland of B.C. to upwards of $750 for a show in outlying districts or out of province.

Our average out of town cost is between $595 to $695 per show depending on the following factors:

  1. Proximity of school to other schools:
We often perform three shows a day and if schools are within easy driving distance, we can afford to reduce our costs from $750 per show.
  2. Size of school:
For school populations between 200 and 300 students, we offer the lower fee. For smaller schools (less than 200 students) we sometimes offer an additional discount if enough schools in the area have booked performances.
  3. Promotional offers:
If your school refers us to another school or helps us get another booking in your district, we are able, at times, to reduce the cost to your school. If we have encountered a last minute cancellation it may also create an opportunity for a discounted fee (These are rare).
  4. Who is booking:
If a co-ordinator from a school district organizes block bookings, we offer a 10% discount.
  5. How long the show has been available:
In some cases, a show that has been on tour for a long period of time can be offered at a lower rate simply because the start-up costs for that show have been recouped.

Obviously if we need to factor in flights, motels, per diems, and rental vehicles into a particular tour, we need to recoup that through a higher show cost. In some instances, if we are only able to do one show on a day because of driving or other requirements, we may need to charge $1000 per show.
