The story of the early days of the colony of British Columbia
When the discovery of gold ignites a gold rush to a fur-trading territory, the flood of miners creates havoc and threatens British influence. Governor James Douglas acts quickly, swearing in the new colony of British Columbia and Chief Justice Matthew Baillie. Together, they bring peace to pandemonium, provide law and order, create routes to the goldfields, and establish a sure footing for the new settlers.
